Sip Otter

Terms of Use

Effective November 8, 2026 · Operator: birdlab · Contact: support@birdlab.net

1. Purpose

These terms set out the rights, duties and responsibilities between birdlab ("we") and you when you use the mobile app Sip Otter (the "service").

2. The service

  • The service provides water logging, daily goals, reminders, widgets, stats, a character and decoration, backup files and share cards.
  • The service works without an account and is funded by ads. Logging, reminders and widgets work regardless of whether you watch ads.
  • The service is made for adults and intended for people aged 18 and over.

3. Not a medical device

  • The service is a tool for tracking a water habit. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any disease. It does not replace medical advice or care and promises no health outcome.
  • Goals are rough estimates from your weight and activity, and hydration rates are app defaults. The evidence screen in the app lists official sources. Fluid needs differ from person to person.
  • If you need to manage fluids because of a kidney or heart condition or for another reason, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have been told how much to drink, follow your clinician's advice before the service's numbers.
  • The service does not encourage drinking more. If you log a large amount in a short time or a day, it shows a calm notice with no praise or rewards. If you feel unwell, seek medical help.

4. Pebbles, cards and decoration

  • Pebbles, streak cards, friends and items exist only in the service, have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money or goods, and can't be bought.
  • We may change rewards, prices and holding limits to improve the service.

5. Ads and rewards

  • The service contains Google AdMob ads: banners, interstitials and rewarded ads you choose to watch. Section 5 of the Privacy Policy says where they appear.
  • Rewards are granted only if you watch a rewarded ad to the end. If an ad fails to load, no reward is granted and you can try again later.
  • Advertisers and Google decide ad content. We try to reduce categories that don't suit the service, but we can't review every ad in advance.

6. Data and privacy

  • Your water log, reward records and settings are stored only on your phone. We have no server and don't receive your records.
  • App data is not included in Android cloud backup or device transfer. To change phones, you need to create a backup file and move it yourself.
  • Backup files and share cards go only to the location or person you choose, and looking after them afterwards is your responsibility. Restoring a backup replaces your current data.
  • We handle information as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Your obligations

  • Don't try to obtain rewards by improper means or tap ads repeatedly on purpose.
  • Don't reverse engineer, modify or redistribute the app.
  • Don't break the law or interfere with normal operation of the service.

8. Intellectual property

Rights in the service's design, the character Mongdol, text, art, sound and software belong to us or their rightful owners. You're free to send your own share cards through social media or messengers. Open source licenses are listed under Settings > Open source licenses in the app.

9. Changes and suspension

We may add, change or end features to improve the service. Some features may stop working if an ad service ends, the operating system changes or for other unavoidable reasons.

10. Limitation of liability

  • To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage arising from the service unless caused by our intent or gross negligence.
  • You are responsible for fluid intake and health decisions you make based on the service.
  • If records are lost through device failure or loss, uninstalling, or changing phones without a backup file, we can't restore them, because no copy exists on a server.
  • Reminders use standard, inexact alarms. Reminders and widgets may be late or not update, depending on your phone's power and notification settings.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms within the law. We give notice on this page and in the app at least 7 days before a change, and at least 30 days before a change that is unfavorable to you.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes go to the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act. Mandatory consumer rights under the law of the country where you live are not affected.
