The app never sends your log to a server, so we can't see your screen or records. Please include your phone model, Android version, app version (at the bottom of Settings) and what happened.
Frequently asked questions
Reminders are late or don't arrive
Open Settings > Notifications > Notification check in the app. It shows notification permission, channels, Do Not Disturb, battery restrictions and recent reminders, and it can send a test reminder.
Sip Otter uses standard, battery-friendly alarms, so a reminder may arrive a little after the time you set. It can be later if your phone puts the app to sleep.
How do I add a widget?
Go to Settings > Add a widget in the app, or long-press your home screen and find Sip Otter in the widget list. Tapping a cup on the widget logs right away without opening the app.
I logged the wrong amount
Tap undo right after logging, or edit and delete entries from your log. You can also add entries for past days.
How is my daily goal set?
It is a rough estimate: weight × 30 ml plus an activity amount, kept between 1,200 and 3,500 ml. You can change it at any time. Settings > Sources in the app lists where this comes from.
If you have a medical condition or have been told how much to drink, follow your clinician's advice rather than the app's number.
What happens when I change phones?
Your log doesn't move automatically, because app data is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer. On your old phone use Settings > Create a backup file, then on the new phone use Settings > Restore from a backup.
A backup file is unencrypted JSON and contains your water log and weight, so keep it somewhere you trust. Restoring replaces your current data with the file.
How do I delete everything?
Use Settings > Delete all data in the app and confirm twice. Uninstalling the app also deletes your log. Deleted data can't be recovered, and because there is no server, we hold no copy.
How do I change my ad choices?
Where consent is required, such as in Europe, you can change your choices from the privacy option in the app's Settings. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
Sip Otter is an app for tracking your water habit. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any disease. Talk to a healthcare professional about your health.
